Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT)

Genetic testing of embryos to detect chromosomal abnormalities before embryo transfer into the uterus, helping select embryos with normal chromosomes to improve implantation success and pregnancy outcomes.

About PGT

What is PGT?

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is a genetic screening of embryos before implantation. It helps reduce the risk of chromosomal abnormalities and certain inherited genetic disorders.
This method allows doctors to select embryos with better genetic integrity before embryo transfer, making it an important step in carefully planned infertility treatment.

Who is it suitable for?

  • 1

Women over the age of 35

  • 2

Couples with a history of recurrent miscarriage

  • 3

Couples who have had unsuccessful IVF or ICSI cycles

  • 4

Families with a history of genetic disorders

Types of PGT

There are 3 types of preimplantation genetic testing

PGT-A

Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy

Used to detect abnormalities in chromosome number, such as extra or missing chromosomes. This helps select embryos with a normal chromosome set, increasing the likelihood of successful implantation.

PGT-M

Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Monogenic Disorder

Used to detect single-gene genetic disorders, such as thalassemia or other inherited conditions that can be passed from parents to children.

PGT-SR

Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Structural Rearrangement

Used to detect structural abnormalities in chromosomes, such as translocations or rearrangements, which may affect embryo development and genetic integrity.

Who Should Consider

Who is PGT-A suitable for?

In general, doctors may recommend PGT-A for couples experiencing infertility or those with risk factors related to chromosomal abnormalities in embryos.

Women aged over 35 years

Individuals with a history of genetic disorders in children or family members

Couples with a history of recurrent miscarriage (more than 2 times)

Couples who have undergone IVF or ICSI more than 2 cycles without success
